September 2010 Editor’s note
In the 1930s, CU President George Norlin often spoke of the beauty of the campus, which he said was “worthy to be the outward frame of the university’s soul.” But I often think about the people who have shaped CU’s inward frame. One of these people is Ron Stump, who retired in mid-August after two-and-a-half years as Alumni Association executive director and 12 years in student affairs, including nine as vice chancellor.

June 2010 Editor’s note
In May my son Saroj Shilpakar (Geog’10) graduated from CU, which may sound odd, given we are only 14 years apart. But Saroj left Nepal five years ago to live with my husband Tom Rutkowski (CivEngr’03) and me and quickly became part of our family. We taught him how to rock climb, brought him to concerts at Macky, took him to the East and West coasts and helped him apply to CU.

Tucked in a tiny house north of Varsity Lake is the headquarters of the Conference on World Affairs. It’s so unremarkable I almost walked by it the first time I visited. Yet inside great minds are at work year round to bring the world to Boulder for one week.

December 2009 Editor's Note

Join us in celebrating the one-year anniversary of the Alumni Association’s Forever Buffs program. Last November we launched the program when we eliminated dues and welcomed all undergraduates and alums to a lifetime of services. Forever Buffs aims to create lifelong CU relationships from freshman year through retirement.
