The brain is a notoriously ravenous organ, so feeding an average of 15,000 students every day is no small feat. Here we’ve collected some fun facts about CU’s residential dining operation,* which has 13 campus locations, including all-you-care-to-eat dining centers, grab-n-go’s, convenience stores, coffee shops, a bakery and a late-night café — and which serves almost 100,000 ice cream cones a year.
“Hit the Bricks,” a 12-by-17-foot LEGO® model of campus, opened Dec. 6 at the Heritage Center in Old Main.

The university’s first library opened in September 1877 in Old Main. It had two books, but by the turn of the century the library, situated on the third floor, had more than 7,000 books. The growing collection unfortunately weighed down the floor supports, making them unsafe. It found a new home in the Buckingham Library building in 1904.
